Little is known about some of our members-There adventures and abilities-and There travels

This is a short adventure experienced  by our member Patty Norlin this spring is being shared for the rest of the members to enjoy.

These photos were taken April 2 and 3rd at Sonoma Raceway (formerly Sears Point) in California at an annual event for vintage cars which included a feature race for just Triumphs (our car is a 1963 Triumph Spitfire).  Jim had driven at this track previously and really enjoyed it, so I got to drive this time.  The track is in a beautiful area of wine country just north of San Francisco Bay and because of all the rain earlier this year, the hillsides were green and very pretty instead of the dusty brown dry grass that is typical of the area.  The track is 2.5 miles long and very technical with lots of hills and blind corners compared to our track in Portland which is flat.  I was able to cut my lap time by 14 seconds from 2:22 to 2:08 which is a huge improvement.  The next weekend we were at Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey and while I did very well in my first session on track, it started to rain after that and put a damper on the rest of the weekend.  But I drove the car into the trailer at the end, so it was a good weekend too.

Our Meetings are the First Friday of the Month at Norse Hall Portland 6:30 pm
